HapaSymphony in Hawaiʻi: How to Find Concert Dates and Tickets From the Neighbor Islands

Looking for HapaSymphony concerts in Kailua-Kona or elsewhere in Hawaiʻi? The first thing to know is that a HapaSymphony performance listed in Honolulu does not mean the same program is scheduled on Hawaiʻi Island.

At the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra (HSO), our HapaSymphony programming has brought artists from Hawaiʻi together with a professional symphony orchestra. These concerts offer opportunities to hear familiar performers and musical traditions in a different setting.

If you're interested in attending from Kailua-Kona, Hilo, Maui, or Kauaʻi, we'll show you where to check for confirmed dates, what our past HapaSymphony programs have featured, and how to find official tickets.

Is There a HapaSymphony Concert in Kailua-Kona?

As of October 21, 2026, we do not have a confirmed upcoming Kailua-Kona HapaSymphony performance identified in our publicly listed concert information.

That does not mean a performance could never be announced on Hawaiʻi Island. It means you should not book transportation or make plans around a Kona date unless the event appears in an official announcement.

Our current website also features an upcoming HapaSymphony performance with Kolohe Kai on June 4, 2027, at Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu.

That is an Oʻahu event, not a Kailua-Kona appearance.

For the most reliable details, begin with our official concert calendar. Individual event listings provide the location and scheduled performance date.

What Is HapaSymphony?

HapaSymphony brings featured artists together with the sound of a full symphony orchestra.

Our past programming has included collaborations with Hawaiian music performers and other artists whose work reflects the musical life of Hawaiʻi.

The goal is not to replace the artists' musical identities with a conventional classical format. It is to create a shared performance in which the orchestra and featured performers contribute to the experience.

Examples of Past HapaSymphony Performances

Our 2025–26 HapaSymphony season featured different kinds of collaborations.

Keauhou

Our February 27, 2026, concert featured Keauhou in a program centered on Hawaiian music.

Johnny Valentine

Our May 9, 2026, Hapa Mama Celebration brought Johnny Valentine together with the orchestra for a special performance.

Waitiki 7

Our June 5, 2026, HapaSymphony finale featured Waitiki 7 and music inspired by the mid-century Exotica tradition.

These are examples of past performances, not currently available concert dates.

You can explore the history of the series on our HapaSymphony page, but check our current concert listings before assuming a particular artist or program is returning.

How to Find HapaSymphony Dates From Your Island

Whether you live on Hawaiʻi Island or are planning a visit from another island, start with the location of the actual performance.

Our orchestra presents concerts in Honolulu, and any performance at another location needs its own confirmed event listing.

Here is a simple way to check availability.

Step 1: Open the Current HSO Concert Calendar

Visit our concerts and events page.

Look for HapaSymphony or a featured-artist concert that interests you.

Some current artist collaborations may appear under other programming labels, including Spotlight. Don't assume that a particular artist collaboration will always use the HapaSymphony name.

Step 2: Confirm the Venue and Island

Open the individual concert listing and verify the venue address.

This matters if you live in Kailua-Kona or Hilo. A Honolulu concert requires different planning from a performance on Hawaiʻi Island.

If a listing names Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall, the event is in Honolulu on Oʻahu.

Do not assume that a performance will also visit Kona, Hilo, or another island unless a separate date is announced.

Step 3: Check the Program and Ticket Information

Once you've confirmed the location, review the artist lineup and event details.

Concert titles and featured performers can change between seasons, so previous HapaSymphony announcements are not substitutes for current ticket information.

If a specific concert is your reason for traveling, we recommend confirming the event and its ticket availability before making nonrefundable travel arrangements.

What If You Live in Kailua-Kona?

If you live in West Hawaiʻi and want to attend a HapaSymphony concert, you have two practical options.

You can check our calendar for a confirmed Hawaiʻi Island performance or consider a scheduled Honolulu event if traveling to Oʻahu works for you.

Neither option requires assuming that an island-wide tour is taking place.

If You're Considering a Honolulu Concert

Start by confirming the performance date.

Then review transportation and accommodations separately from your concert purchase.

Pay attention to the scheduled start time and the venue. An evening performance may be difficult to combine with a same-day inter-island return, depending on your travel arrangements.

If you're unfamiliar with our Honolulu venues, our concert FAQ provides information about the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall, ticketing, and visitor considerations.

If You Prefer to Attend on Hawaiʻi Island

Keep checking our official announcements for performances with confirmed Big Island venues.

We cannot assume that an upcoming Honolulu concert will be presented in Kailua-Kona or Hilo.

If you're interested in a specific HapaSymphony program and cannot find a local date, contact our team with your question.

We'll be able to direct you to the information available for our announced events.

Where Can You Buy HapaSymphony Tickets?

Our official ticketing channels are the safest starting point for an HSO performance.

You can explore ticket options through our HSO Box Office.

Depending on the performance, authorized Blaisdell or Ticketmaster ticketing may also be available.

We do not authorize unrelated third-party ticketing websites for our events.

Before purchasing, make sure the ticket matches the exact event you intend to attend.

Check the performance date, venue, seat selection, and final checkout amount.

Our published ticketing FAQ states that ticket purchases are final and nonrefundable. Artists and programs are also subject to change.

If you're traveling from another island, those policies are especially important.

Are HapaSymphony Tickets Available at Every Price Level?

Pricing depends on the individual concert and the tickets offered.

We recommend checking the current ticket page rather than relying on prices from a previous HapaSymphony season.

Historical subscription offers should not be assumed to apply to a future performance.

Are HapaSymphony Concerts Free?

Do not assume a HapaSymphony performance is free because HSO has presented free community concerts in the past.

Our community programming and our ticketed concert series have different admission arrangements.

A performance is free only when its official listing identifies it that way. Some free events may still require registration.

What Should First-Time HapaSymphony Audiences Expect?

You don't need previous experience with classical music to attend a concert with us.

If you're familiar with the featured artist, that can be a natural starting point for listening.

You might recognize songs or musical styles while hearing new orchestral arrangements.

The details depend on the program, so check the concert description rather than expecting every HapaSymphony performance to follow an identical format.

What Should You Wear?

We do not require formal evening wear for our regular concerts.

Choose comfortable clothing appropriate for the venue.

If you're attending at Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall, remember that the concert takes place in an indoor performance space.

Can You Bring Children?

Our current ticketing FAQ welcomes children age five and older at standard performances with a purchased ticket.

Age recommendations can vary for family-oriented and other special events.

Review the guidance for the specific HapaSymphony performance before purchasing tickets for children.

What About Accessible Seating?

Accessibility arrangements depend on the performance venue and the seating section.

If you have specific access needs, review the event details and contact our Box Office & Patron Services team before choosing seats.

For further first-visit guidance, explore our first-time symphony-goer's guide.

HapaSymphony Concert Questions

Is HapaSymphony a Venue in Kailua-Kona?

No. HapaSymphony is HSO programming, not a permanent concert venue with daily opening hours.

To find out whether a performance is available near you, check its scheduled date and location.

Is There a HapaSymphony Concert Scheduled on Hawaiʻi Island?

We could not confirm a current publicly listed Kailua-Kona performance as of October 21, 2026.

Use our latest concert announcements to check whether a Hawaiʻi Island date has been added.

Where Is the Upcoming HapaSymphony: Kolohe Kai Concert?

Our website currently advertises HapaSymphony: Kolohe Kai for June 4, 2027, at Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu.

Review its current event listing for ticket availability and any updated arrangements before booking travel.

Can I Buy Tickets for a Concert That Hasn't Been Announced?

An unannounced performance does not have a verified date, venue, or official ticket offer.

Wait for an HSO event listing before purchasing tickets or making plans around it.
